Getting Evan is a Beacon Winner!

I entered a new romance in the First Coast Romance Writers Beacon contest – and Getting Evan WON the erotica category!  Who-hoo!!!  Considering when I first started writing love scenes I had to do it with my eyes closed, I think I’ve come a long way.  Pun maybe intended.

Beacon WINNER!

My newsletter subscribers got to see the first few pages.  I’ve had a lot of good responses for it.  Plus it’s FUN to write!  (You can subscribe to my newsletter by entering your email address in the convenient little box to the right.)

In other news, I went and got myself a Pinterest account.  There are a lot of Abigail Sharpes out there!  I’ve posted some research pictures for my Work in Progress.  Right now it’s a jumbled mess (Pinterest, not my WIP), but I’ve had fun poking around on the site.

Happy pinning!

12 Days of Christmas Movies!

I owe a lot to Hugh Grant. After seeing Four Weddings and a Funeral, I became a tad obsessed. It’s because of him I watched Sense and Sensibility, and discovered not only Jane Austen, but Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. I watched some whacked-out movies with him in it (Sirens, anyone?) and ones with really long titles.

So when a movie came out that starred Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, and a slew of other fantastic actors with fantastic accents, I knew I’d have to see it. And BOOM. Love Actually became my favorite holiday movie.

But we’re not here to talk movies – we’re here to talk BOOKS and AUTHORS and prizes!

Protect Her by Sophia Kimble

Sophia Kimble ProtectHer_850HIGH Book Cover

Golden Alexander is trapped in a nightmare.

Trying to flee her hallucination of a demon, she runs heart first into the brooding alpha male she’s been dreaming about for years, and then her nightmare really begins.

Kris Pietka is done with women…he’s broken. But when he meets Golden, an overwhelming need to protect her tests everything he thought he knew about himself, and the paranormal.

A bond forged centuries ago thrusts them together as they search for a way to break an ancient Druid curse prophesying their demise. Racing against the clock, they travel from Vermont, to the Carpathian Mountains in Poland, and the Scottish Highlands in search of answers and a way to break the curse.

But something evil watches—it covets, and time is running out.

Will fate allow love to prevail against unbeatable odds, or will Golden wake to find it was all a delusion?

About the Author

Sophia Kimble has always wanted to be an author, but for years, life got in the way. She wouldn’t change a thing about how her life turned out, though. Her family keeps her laughing and loving. Her wonderful husband and two extraordinary children stand beside her every step of the way and make this journey called life worth living.

Sophia has worked as a nurse for twenty years, but has put that career path aside to devote her time and imagination to writing down the stories that keep her up nights.

She takes her love of the paranormal, history, and genealogy, and weaves them into tales of family, fated love, and supernatural occurrences.

A new look and a newsletter!

*whew* What a crazy month! Who Wants to Marry a Doctor? released with some great reviews. I got a complete overhaul of my website (though I still need to touch up a few things). Tomorrow I’m doing my first book signing that’s not related to RWA. And I auditioned (but didn’t get a part) for Les Miserables. I guess the world wasn’t ready for me to be older at the end of the day.

AND I now have a newsletter! Well, I have a newsletter sign up. My plan is to release no more than once a month unless there’s something juicy going on. Sign up by August 15 for a chance to win a $10 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift certificate and other fun prizes.

Hop along!

I’ve been home less than a week from the RWA National Conference in Atlanta.  I’m not used to one-way streets anymore and got all turned around.   It took me about 15 minutes to get back to my hotel from the self-parking garage because I kept misjudging where the streets led!

Anyway – recap coming soon.  I had a great time, met and remet some great people, learned a lot and learned how much I didn’t know.

No cupcake adventure this time, though.  Instead – it was the Search for a HOT DOG.  BOY, did I want one!

Oh, and some guy at the bar called me hot.  That was pretty sweet, too.  😉  Unless he was trying to be polite instead of saying sweaty.  hmmmm…

Awww, poor guy… he was just trying to be helpful

I was at Publix yesterday, staring at the buy-one-get-one-free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.  For reasons I won’t mention (and that certainly have nothing to do with me eating ANY of it), I had to replace the Chocolate Therapy flavor we bought the day before.  While I was deciding on the get-one-free flavor, a guy about 20 started staring at them with me.  We chatted about the importance of picking the right flavor, then he chose his (Chocolate Therapy and another I didn’t see) and went on his way.  Then I picked mine (Chocolate Fudge Brownie fro-yo).

I ended up behind him at the cashier’s.  As I took my wallet from my purse, something fell out and hit the floor.  He bent down before I could react, and picked up my nicely-wrapped maxi pad.

Thank goodness I’m beyond being embarrassed about things like that.  But he blushed as I took it from him and said thank you.  Poor kid.

I don’t think I’m going to turn that one into a meet-cute for a novel.
