Getting Evan is a Beacon Winner!

I entered a new romance in the First Coast Romance Writers Beacon contest – and Getting Evan WON the erotica category!  Who-hoo!!!  Considering when I first started writing love scenes I had to do it with my eyes closed, I think I’ve come a long way.  Pun maybe intended.

Beacon WINNER!

Beacon WINNER!

My newsletter subscribers got to see the first few pages.  I’ve had a lot of good responses for it.  Plus it’s FUN to write!  (You can subscribe to my newsletter by entering your email address in the convenient little box to the right.)

In other news, I went and got myself a Pinterest account.  https://www.pinterest.com/Abigail_Sharpe/  There are a lot of Abigail Sharpes out there!  I’ve posted some research pictures for my Work in Progress.  Right now it’s a jumbled mess (Pinterest, not my WIP), but I’ve had fun poking around on the site.

Happy pinning!

Rachel Lacey Unleashed Book CoverWhat happens when you find the right one at the wrong time?

Cara Medlen has a serious case of animal attraction. And it’s not because of all the foster dogs she’s rescued. She’s got it bad for her incredibly sexy neighbor. Her one rule: Don’t get attached. It’s served her well with the dogs she’s given to good homes and the children she’s nannied. Yet the temptation of Matt’s sexy smile might just convince her that some rules are made to be broken.

Matt Dumont doesn’t need his skills as a private investigator to detect disaster on the horizon. Cara is everything he thought he’d never find—gorgeous, funny, and caring. But there’s no way he can start a relationship just as he’s about to move to another state. Talk about bad timing. 12 Days of Christmas Traditions

I always know what I’m having for dinner on Christmas day:  Chinese food.

It’s a tradition in my family, and it’s fun.  Lo mien and honey chicken and shrimp and lobster sauce, yum!  We don’t limit our yearly Chinese food intake to the holidays, and sitting down and eating together is the best part about it, but it gives us something to look forward to on a nice, relaxing day.

You really came here to read about Stephanie Berget, didn’t you?

It’s obvious she’s not his usual good-time girl, so why can’t he forget her?

About the Author

Born and raised in Boise, Idaho to city parents, I was a horse lover from the day I first watched My Friend Flicka.

I began writing after I read a rodeo romance in which the romance was good, but the rodeo and horse information was so wrong…. I thought, how hard can it be to write a book? Five years and thousands of hours of study and writing, I know how hard it is. Writing well is just as hard to do well as it is to do anything well.

I write Contemporary Rodeo Romance with a touch of magic. It’s Romance with a Rodeo flair.

12 Days of Christmas Dessert Recipe

You know what’s weird?  While I lurves me some chocolate, I’m not really into desserts nowadays.  I was at a Chanukah party last night and there was this delicious looking chocolate torte.  And all I thought was, eh.  Now, it could be because it was store-bought.  I’m be much more likely to try it if it were homemade.

Now, I did make a pumpkin toffee cheesecake for Thanksgiving.  That was goooooooooooood.  I saw the picture on the cover of a magazine and took a picture of the recipe – because who writes down recipes anymore?  I’m providing them both to you.  I wish I thought to write down the name of the magazine, but I wasn’t planning on sharing when I snapped the photo.

And now, onto Jessica Jefferson and Taming Miss Tisdale.

Taming Miss Tisdale by Jessica Jefferson

perf5.000x8.000.indd

Miss Tamsin Tisdale believes herself to be completely unsuitable for London life. After a myriad of social mishaps, and the potential ruination of her family name, she’s shipped away to her cousin’s northern estate. Only after she accepts the type of existence Society dictates she must follow will she be welcomed home.

Marcus Winston, the Duke of Grayson, has a lackluster reputation. The last in a dying line, he’s endured a protected life—rank with privilege, but encumbered by isolation. After a brief encounter with rebellion, he learns the devastating consequences of his carelessness and willingly accepts living life from inside his gilded cage.

However, a chance meeting with the brazen Miss Tisdale gives Marc the opportunity to reinvent himself into the man he’s always dreamed of being. But when his deception comes to light, and ghosts from both their pasts threaten to unravel the intimacy they’ve come to cherish, will either of them set their fears aside long enough to embrace love? Or will Miss Tisdale’s stubbornness divide them?

Jessica Jefferson makes her home in northern Indiana, or as she likes to think of it – almost Chicago. Jessica originally attended college in hopes of achieving an English degree and writing the next great American novel. Ten years later she was working as a registered nurse and reading historical romance when she decided to give writing another go-round.

Jessica writes likes she speaks – which has a tendency to be fast paced and humorous. She is heavily inspired by sweeping, historical romance novels, but aims to take those key emotional elements and inject a fresh blend of quick dialogue and comedy.

12 Days of Christmas Favorite Holiday Song

So, you might be thinking – Geez, Abby.  What kind of popular Chanukah songs are there?  You got your dreidel song, and your Oh, Chanukah song, and… um… yeah, that’s about it.

I love singing.  I sing all the time.  I sing in the shower, in the car, when I’m cooking.  I perform in Just Desserts, a singing wench group, at a medieval faire in North Central Florida.  And for years, I would carol a couple times a year for the city or retirement centers or whoever would listen to me and my group.  My favorite song to sing was What Child is This/Greensleeves, even though as an alto, my part consisted of repeating a harmony five times before singing the chorus.  Still, it’s one of those pieces where the sum of the parts is amazing as a whole.

I found my favorite song to listen to about ten years ago.  I don’t remember how I came across this – maybe someone sent it to me or I saw it as a YouTube recommendation or something.  One of the reasons I love it so much is because it incorporates almost every carol I’ve ever sung.  The other reason is because it’s flippin’ fantastic!  Straight No Chaser’s 12 Days of Christmas.

And now for my mighty good author of the day!

12 Days of Christmas Decorating!

The candles are burning bright!

The candles are burning bright!

Oh, some of these topics are hard for me.  You ever hear Kyle’s song from South Park?  I’m a lonely Jew at Christmas (but without the colorful metaphors).  I did get to decorate a tree on Monday, though – I hung the tinsel and was critiqued by my friends on my style.  I was a few-strands-at-a-time hanger.

All the decorating I do is setting up my menorah.  I don’t remember when I *didn’t* have this menorah.  It’s covered in layers and layers of wax that I can never get off, so the burning candles always have a precarious tilt.  BUT the shamus – the candle used to light the other candles – is separate from the other candles, thus lessening the chance of burning myself once we pass the fifth night.

Now, on to the author!

Highland Deception by Meggan Connors

Meggan Connors Highland Deception Book Cover

When Kenneth Mackay, long-banished rogue and thief, returns to the Mackay holding at the request of his brother, he has no idea what he might find. He certainly doesn’t expect to be confronted with his twin’s imminent death, or with the plan his brother has concocted.

Ten years before, Malcolm made a tragic mistake, and, to preserve the family name—and his own skin—he allowed Kenneth to take the fall. Now that he is dying without an heir, Malcolm plans to atone for his mistake: by giving Kenneth his life back. All Kenneth has to do is assume his brother’s identity. But complicating matters is the unexpected return of Lady Isobel Mackay, the daughter of an English marquess and the wife Malcolm didn’t want.

Isobel barely knows the husband who abandoned her even before their marriage, and she’d long since given up on having a real marriage with him. Yet when she returns to the Mackay holding far earlier than expected, she finds her husband a changed man. Despite the hurt between them, Isobel’s heart responds to this man who cares for his entire clan as if they were family. Who, for the first time, cares for her as if she is, too.

Falling in love with her husband had never been part of Isobel’s plan. But when their future is suddenly in peril, Isobel must find a way to save him—from himself and from the deception threatening to tear them apart.

About the Author

I’ve been writing stories since I was little–I finished my first story (3 spiral notebooks) when I was eleven. I think it’s in a box in the garage, actually. Because, really, everyone should keep the first story they ever wrote. Sure, it featured the boy I had a crush on, unicorns and rainbows and a witch that looked suspiciously like my sixth grade teacher, but whatever.

Okay, yeah, it’s super embarrassing. Especially when you consider that I didn’t exactly know the difference between profuse and perverse, and used them interchangeably.

Mmhm. Well. Let’s move on.

While graduate school effectively killed the writer in me for a time, the stories kept percolating in my head. After my son was born, I decided to try my hand at writing romance novels. I finished my first, wrote a second, and started entering contests. Eventually, The Marker got picked up by Soul Mate Publishing, and the rest is history.

When I’m not writing–or at work–you can find me hiking in the hills behind my house, camping in my tiny camp trailer with my two dogs, two kids, and lawman husband, or with my nose in a book.

12 Days of Christmas appetizers

Okay, I admit it.  When it comes to appetizers, I usually go to the freezer section of the grocery store.  Now, I don’t mind *eating* appetizers…

Sometimes I’ll cut up some fruit and veggies and put them out with hummus.  If I’m feeling ambitious, I go with Alton Brown’s spinach artichoke dip.  MMmmmmmm…

But what does this have to do with Heather Miles and Merger?  Nothing – other than the fact she’s the next author for our 12 Days of Christmas giveaway!
